Our Picks: Caribbean Destinations
CARIBBEAN AURA! - By: Robert Navarro
As a Nature Lover, the Caribbean has always been one of my favorite Destinations. The charm of the Caribbean needs no introduction; La Crème de la Crème. Once you get a glimpse of the crystal clear turquoise waters, unharmed beaches, and it’s Magical Aura, you know you are in for a treat.
Although I have been to these Islands more than once -- I have very different and special feelings for each Island. E.g. if you are looking for a more quite and relax vacation, my vote would be for St. John USVI over the other two. It really depends on what you are looking for.
If any of these islands sounds like the type of vacation that suites your needs, send us an email to: Vacations@suntravelonline.com and we will do everything possible to make your vacation a truly memorable one.

In Aruba’s famous and public “Palm beach” area, you will see one resort after another along the coast and experience very little local life. One positive is that Aruba claims to be out of the hurricane zone with lower odds of being hit by a hurricane than other places, but they are not immune. Hurricane odds are based on history. In our case a hurricane brushed by when we visited the first time (Ivan – September 2004). There was no damage, just high winds and crummy weather for one day only. You'll get all the creature comforts of the US in a tropical atmosphere. Very breezy -- we loved that, as it never felt hot and sweltering.
Our favorite accommodation in Aruba was the Renaissance Aruba Resort, its right in downtown “Oranjestad” where you will get to experience the local life and walking distance to shops, clubs and restaurants. This Resort has a private island (private beach) that only guest can go to...boat comes right into lobby and 5 minutes later you are on your own private island with bar and restaurant.

St. John USVI - Best Times: December - May.

The minute the ferry arrives at Cruz Bay you are transported to a place and time of supernatural magic.
St. John is the smallest and least densely populated of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is a wonder of untouched and beautiful crescent shape bays, and white sand beaches. So you are in for a treat!!! This is mostly a destination for couples looking for rest and relaxation in an elegant environment. There aren’t that many resorts and are more scattered, there is a more local atmosphere though it is not that different from America – but definitely more Island like. Is more layback and that’s why so many people love it.
Our favorite accommodation in St. John was The Gallows Point Resort. If you are looking for a quiet and Romantic location by the sea, this is it!!! It is perfectly located – within 5 minute walking distance from Cruz Bay (the town) with a good selection of shops and restaurants. There is really no beach as it is a bit rocky, but the most beautiful beaches are short distance away and easy to get to (public transportation or car rental). A Must Do – Zozo’s – the on-site restaurant is in my opinion the most sought-after dinner location on the island. So make sure you make your reservations early.

Grand Cayman - Best Times: December - May.

We visited Grand Cayman Island twice via Cruise ship. Both times we purchased the Beach Tour; our Tour included our beach chair, beach umbrella and a drink. We spent sunny day at the former Beach Club Colony Hotel enjoying the indisputable Diamond of the Caribbean the 7 mile beach. A short taxi ride got us there in less than 10 min.
Activities: We couldn’t resist trying the breathtaking bird’s eye view of the 7 mile beach, so off we went and booked a ride on a double Parasailing Tour right off the beach. It’s a smooth ride and requires no experience; you start off and land on the boat. And in a few seconds you will be lifted up a few hundred feet in the air above the seven mile beach. Wow!!! No reason ever to leave paradise.
Comparison: It would be fare to say that Grand Cayman fix right in the middle of St. John and Aruba; not as laid back as St. John but not as alive as Aruba.
